DONNA/Salticus

Overview

DONNA stands for Document Organization aNd Navigation Agent. The project was sponsored by FileNet Corporation, a provider of document management software and solutions. The project changed shape several times, but concentrated generally on the problem of personal digital libraries for competitive business intelligence.
Salticus (Search Augmented by Learning Technology: Incrementally Customizable User Spider) is the part of DONNA that helps the user gather documents to support a particular analysis. I am now in the process of taking some of the results of this work and moving them to the Greenstone digital library system.

Related Work

I don't see a lot of people working on personal digital libraries. Some people at the University of Arizona are working on web spiders for business intelligence.
